KUALA LUMPUR: LKL International Bhd, which made its debut on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd yesterday, is aiming to expand its global footprint to new geographical markets in the Asean and African regions.

“We’ll leverage on this opportunity through our track record and proven product quality to expand our global presence and strengthen our presence in the local market,” Lim told a press conference after the group’s listing ceremony here yesterday.

The medical/healthcare bed provider is assessing the Asean market and aggressively looking at the African market and will put more effort in growing its business in these two regions due to demand.

LKL’s existing export markets span across six continents and 30 countries, such as Kenya, Botswana, the Philippines, China (Hong Kong), the United Arab Emirates, Finland, Australia.

“We’re confident with our strong market position that we’re in a place to grow and capture greater market share,” Lim said.

On growth prospects, he said Malaysia’s ratio of medical beds per 1,000 population stood at 1.9 beds in 2014 and the government aims to increase the medical bed ratio to 2.3 beds per 1,000 population in the 11th Malaysia Plan

LKL’s subsidiary LKL Advance Metaltech Sdn Bhd, is principally involved in the provision of medical/healthcare beds, peripherals and accessories for hospitals, medical centres and various healthcare-related facilities. The company expects the purchase of three units of new computer numerical control machinery to increase its maximum annual production capacity for medical/healthcare beds, peripherals and accessories by 30%.
